How easy do you think it will be to cut CO2 emissions at a national level?

Mostly negative

What ideas do you have for reducing national CO2 emissions?

The correlation between street crime and lack of traditional police foot patrols is often discussed. It is likely that some short car journeys could be avoided if people felt safer on the streets and could walk instead of taking the car. Older members of my family used to recall that they regularly walked home from dances if they missed the last bus home. If walking isn't an option, people would be encouraged to use buses if they could hail the bus between stops, particularly at night - when some routes are under-used anyway. I believe the scheme has already been trialled.

What do you think the main obstacles and opportunities are?

Lack of resources. A police force which has too many staff behind desks, dealing with crime after it has occurred, instead of officers who are on the streets and proactively preventing crime.

What ideas do you have for reducing national CO2 emissions?

Too numerous to state! A few amongst many Stop fossil fuel subsidies. Reduce vat on renewables - 5% for fossil fuels , 20% renewables !!!! Stop HS2 Abandon 3rd runway at Heathrow Recognise that obsession with 'growth' and 'business as usual' is not a viable position. Stop deep mining approval and fracking. Etc etc etc...

What do you think the main obstacles and opportunities are?

Ineffective government, lack of commitment to so called 'climate emergency ' declaration. National Citizens' assembly or assemblies. If there is a will, there is a way... This emergency has far more serious implications and outcomes than a world war, government needs to act.

What ideas do you have for reducing national CO2 emissions?

In the last two weeks Tom Watson Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, Dr. Gail Bradbrook, Co-Founder of Extinction Rebellion and The Right Hon, the Lord Debden, Chair of the UK Climate Change Committee have all confirmed that the most pressing and intractable CO2e emiting sector is the global food supply chain, responsible for almost 35% of global CO2e. There is a real opportunity to create a world leading sustainable food quarter on Camley St in Kings Cross.

What do you think the main obstacles and opportunities are?

There are tremendous opportunities for a dynamic integration between this sustainable food quarter and the knowledge and health quarters at Kings Cross. The opportunities for new business and research are global The main obstacle is the need especially for LBC to be inspired to see this possibility and to take it seriously. A start would be amending the recently published Supplementary Planning Document and facilitating discussion with the GLA and the knowledge and health quarters.

Make trains cheaper than air travel (probably by renationalising the railways)
